I remember when the Internet was fun.
Oh, not that it's not fun now, but I don't have the time that I used to have. There are things I value more. Am I getting old? Nah. Wise.
The Internet is great entertainment, but it's primary value is as a tool. From the beginning of time until somewhere around the 1800's, knowledge was only available to Kings and epic scholars. The average person couldn't read or write, and even if they could, it took months or years to correspond with distant people.
But, like my father, they weren't ignorant; they were simply smarter in other ways. Read a book or a newspaper. Take lessons from an expert in something you'd like to do. Do something, anything! The Internet will be here when you get back, and you just might have something to share. Trust me on that.
