Character Editor and Story Building Tool
A list of things some people need to compile before writing a book or
short story.
From the Force of Arms Universe
Force of Arms Historical Diatribe:
Read this First! It is the
backstory to every entry in this category. It's always under
revision as new ideas come to mind or old ones lose appeal to me.
Three things: Anyone can write. Most people can write well, if they would simply give it a try. Everyone has a story they want to tell.
The hardest part of writing, from my perspective at least, is finding a quiet place from which to write.
That place isn't physical. Like a professional basketball player in a road game who's about to shoot a clutch free-throw with game winning potential, a writer must be able to enter "the zone" and tune out the noise of everyday life.
It doesn't matter if the kids are screaming and the TV's blaring. When you enter that quiet place where nascent thoughts come to life, you won't even notice. The only voice you'll hear is the muse in your head telling you what comes next.
With that said, write your story, even if it's only slightly longer and more wordy than a shopping list. If you're like me, the joy of creation will reward you in ways you cannot begin to understand until that first chapter is complete.
